Eliot Horowitz

Eliot Horowitz is the founder and CEO of Viam, an open-source robotics software company based in New York City. Before launching Viam in 2020, he co-founded MongoDB and served as its Chief Technology Officer from 2007 until July 2020. During his 13-year tenure, he authored the core database kernel and helped scale the business to a 2017 initial public offering, eventually reaching a market capitalization exceeding $20 billion. Earlier in his career, he co-founded the e-commerce platform ShopWiki, worked as a software developer at DoubleClick, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Brown University. At Viam, he has secured over $87 million in total venture funding, including backing from Union Square Ventures. His professional background centers on building scalable software infrastructure, open-source developer tools, and advanced robotics automation platforms.
