Edward Fenster is the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Chairman of Sunrun, based in San Francisco, California. Before launching the residential solar energy company in 2007 alongside co-founder Lynn Jurich, he worked as a private equity investment professional at The Blackstone Group. During his extended tenure as Co-CEO, he helped pioneer the solar-as-a-service business model and guided the firm through its 2015 initial public offering and the $3.2 billion corporate acquisition of Vivint Solar in 2020. After transitioning to his current board leadership position in August 2021, he now oversees capital raising, legislative initiatives, and regulatory affairs for an enterprise serving nearly one million residential customers across the United States. Fenster holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, maintaining a continuous professional focus on clean energy policy, virtual power plants, and sustainable consumer finance.
