Diedrik Vermeulen

Diedrik Vermeulen is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SiPhox Health, a silicon photonics diagnostic company based in Boston, Massachusetts. Before establishing the Y Combinator-backed healthcare startup in 2020, he served as Director of Engineering at Analog Photonics and worked as a Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also contributed to the development of silicon photonics transceivers during his tenure at Acacia Communications. As a recognized photonics expert, Vermeulen has authored 108 academic publications and holds 28 patents related to optical systems and chip-to-chip coupling technologies. Under his leadership, SiPhox Health secured a $27 million Series A funding round in July 2023 from investors including Intel Capital and Khosla Ventures to expand its 30-person team. His current professional focus centers on commercializing advanced semiconductor technology to create accessible, lab-quality home blood testing platforms for consumers.
