Dheera Venkatraman

Dheera Venkatraman is a Principal Engineer at Wayve.ai and a Principal Applied Scientist at Amazon Web Services AI/ML based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. With over 13 years of experience in generative artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, he previously served as the Director of Software at Ouster and as a Robotics Software Engineer at Freedom Robotics. Venkatraman also co-founded and acted as Chief Technology Officer for Robby Technologies, a Y Combinator-backed startup that successfully completed more than three years of autonomous robotic deliveries. He holds a doctorate, master's, and bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his academic research focused on developing single-photon 3D cameras and advanced LIDAR technology. His current professional focus centers on applying a physics-first approach to solve complex perception challenges in vision-driven robotics, generative AI, and machine learning.
