Dexter Horthy

Dexter Horthy is the Founder of HumanLayer, an artificial intelligence startup developing human-in-the-loop infrastructure for autonomous AI agents. He began his engineering career at age 17 by writing code for NASA JPL before transitioning into the broader enterprise software sector. Horthy subsequently spent seven years at Replicated, a Series C developer tools company, where he advanced through various roles as a systems engineer, product manager, and technology executive. During his tenure, he focused heavily on container orchestration and Kubernetes solutions, assisting major enterprise technology teams at organizations like HashiCorp and DataStax with complex on-premises product delivery. He established HumanLayer after identifying critical workflow challenges while building Slack-based AI agents for SQL data warehouses. His current professional focus centers on bridging the operational gap between autonomous artificial intelligence systems and secure enterprise developer tools.
