Derrick Cheng

Derrick Cheng is the Co-Founder of Overstand Labs, a Y Combinator-backed enterprise artificial intelligence startup founded in 2024. Alongside co-founder Mihir Patil, he leads a four-person team developing tools that unify and analyze fragmented corporate data across platforms like Slack and email to surface customer insights. Prior to launching this venture, Cheng spent nearly a decade at Meta, serving as an Engineering Manager and Tech Lead across artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and product growth for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Portal. Earlier in his career, he built customer-embedded products at Palantir and conducted early GPU machine learning research while earning his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from UC Berkeley. His current focus centers on leveraging his extensive background in consumer platform monetization and applied machine learning to build scalable data unification tools for enterprise leadership teams.
