Derek Herrera

Derek Herrera is the Founder and CEO of Habit Camera, Founder of MedTechVets, and Board Member of UroDev Medical, based in San Clemente, California. He previously served as a Special Operations Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he sustained a paralyzing combat injury and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Holding a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, Herrera has secured millions in NIH, DoD, and venture funding. In 2020, he launched Habit Camera to create wireless skin inspection tools and rebranded his flagship startup to UroDev Medical to focus on revolutionary bladder management technology. His current mission centers on advancing medical device innovation while leading MedTechVets, a nonprofit facilitating career placement for hundreds of military veterans entering the life sciences industry.
