Dayton Thorpe

Dayton Thorpe is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mercator, a technology startup based in San Francisco, California. He holds a PhD in physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and previously earned dual bachelor's degrees in mathematics and physics from the University of Southern California. Prior to founding Mercator, Thorpe built his career in applied machine learning and advanced analytics through various senior data science roles at major technology and financial firms, including Instacart, Valor Equity Partners, and Kabbage. Outside of his primary corporate endeavors, he currently serves on the board of directors for two regional non-profit organizations, Eden I&R/211 Alameda County and Conard House. His professional background effectively bridges rigorous academic physics and applied data science, with a current focus on developing advanced machine learning solutions for the broader technology sector.
