Davit Buniatyan

Davit Buniatyan is the Founding CEO of Activeloop, an artificial intelligence data infrastructure startup based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before launching the company, he earned a Bachelor of Science from University College London in 2016 and subsequently enrolled as a machine learning doctoral candidate at Princeton University, where he is currently on leave. An alumnus of the Y Combinator Summer 2018 batch, Buniatyan led Activeloop to secure an $11 million Series A funding round in 2023 to scale its enterprise operations. Under his leadership, the firm developed Deep Lake, an open-source vector database platform that reached a significant milestone of managing over one million datasets globally by February 2025. His current professional focus remains on advancing scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support commercial large language models and complex deep learning applications.
