David Akinin

David Akinin is the Founder and CEO of JABU, a B2B ecommerce and fintech platform based in Windhoek, Namibia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago and a Master of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovation from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business. Prior to launching his current venture in 2020, Akinin gained corporate finance and technology experience through professional roles at Credit Suisse, Google, and Atenu Developments. Under his leadership, JABU participated in Y Combinator's Summer 2021 batch and subsequently raised a $15 million Series A funding round backed by Tiger Global in May 2022 to expand its geographic footprint and launch digital wallet services. Akinin currently focuses on digitizing supply chains and providing financial technology solutions to support thousands of informal sector retailers across Southern Africa.
