Chris Carlson is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of ParcelBio, an early-stage biotechnology enterprise based in San Francisco, California. He co-founded the five-person startup in 2023 to develop next-generation mRNA delivery technologies, subsequently leading the company through the Y Combinator Winter 2024 batch. Prior to launching ParcelBio, Carlson worked as a scientist at Orbital Therapeutics, where he served as the primary contributor on multiple utility patents related to the stabilization of therapeutic RNAs for clinical applications. He holds a doctorate from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where his academic research specifically focused on RNA packaging and protection mechanisms within viruses. Carlson leverages his extensive background in virology and biotechnology to advance novel RNA therapeutics and mRNA stabilization techniques designed to treat kidney disorders, chronic liver diseases, and severe immune dysregulation.
