Chen-Ping Yu is the former co-founder and CEO of Phiar, an artificial intelligence startup acquired by Google, and is currently based in Redwood City, California. Before launching his entrepreneurial career in the technology sector, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University and earned a PhD in Computer Science from Stony Brook University. Yu established Phiar through the Y Combinator Summer 2018 batch to develop lightweight spatial AI and augmented reality navigation systems specifically for the automotive industry. Under his leadership, the mobility software company secured a $12 million Series A funding round in September 2021 before Google ultimately acquired the business in late 2022. His technical background centers on computer vision and machine learning, supported by over a decade of academic research published in top scientific venues like NeurIPS and PNAS.
