Bruce German

Bruce German is a Distinguished Professor and Director of the Foods for Health Institute at the University of California, Davis, currently based in Davis, California. Alongside his academic tenure, he is a serial biotechnology entrepreneur who co-founded Evolve Biosystems, which rebranded to Infinant Health after raising over $100 million in venture funding. He also co-founded BCD Bioscience, a precision prebiotics startup that secured a $12 million Series A funding round led by Seventure Partners in 2022, as well as Digestiva Inc. and Matrubials. German holds a doctorate in food chemistry from Cornell University and has spent over 40 years researching mammalian milk genomics, publishing hundreds of highly cited academic research papers. His current professional focus centers on translating the biological mechanisms of lactation and the infant microbiome into commercial therapeutic health applications and dietary interventions.
