Brian Goodman is a distinguished Partner at MPM Capital, a leading biotechnology investment firm dedicated to funding and building companies that seek to cure major diseases. In his role, Brian is instrumental in the firm's strategy of new company creation, actively identifying and nurturing promising scientific breakthroughs into viable biotech ventures. His investment focus is sharply honed on critical therapeutic areas, including oncology, immunology, and rare diseases, where he seeks to back innovative platforms and therapies with the potential to significantly impact patient lives.

Before joining MPM Capital in 2018, Brian built a robust career foundation in the life sciences sector. He previously served as a Principal at Third Rock Ventures, a renowned venture capital firm specializing in founding and building healthcare companies. During his tenure at Third Rock, Brian was deeply involved in the formation, launch, and operational development of several successful portfolio companies. These included PACT Pharma, a company focused on personalized adoptive cell therapy; Celsius Therapeutics, which leverages single-cell genomics to discover precision medicines; and Neon Therapeutics, a neoantigen-focused T cell therapy company that was later acquired by BioNTech. His experience at Third Rock provided him with invaluable insights into the intricacies of biotech company building from the ground up.

Prior to his venture capital career, Brian honed his analytical and strategic skills as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, he advised a diverse range of pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients on critical strategic and operational challenges, further deepening his understanding of the industry landscape.

Brian's academic background is equally impressive, providing a strong scientific and engineering foundation for his investment acumen. He earned his Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he conducted advanced research at the intersection of biology and engineering. He also holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University.
