Ben Nelson is the Co-founder of BloomTech, an online coding bootcamp based in the Pleasanton, United States area. He launched the company through Y Combinator's Summer 2017 batch and subsequently helped raise over $120 million in venture capital from a syndicate of prominent technology investors. Under his leadership, the education technology startup scaled to between 51 and 200 employees before being acquired by the decentralized talent network Braintrust in early 2024. Prior to establishing BloomTech, Nelson worked as a full-stack software engineer from 2015 to 2017 and served as a lead instructor at a regional coding bootcamp. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Brigham Young University, where he also worked as a Mandarin instructor. His career focuses on software engineering, early-stage startups, and pioneering alternative education financing models like income share agreements.
