Barrett Ames

Barrett Ames is the Tech Co-founder of BotBuilt, a venture-backed construction technology startup based in Durham, North Carolina. In January 2024, the company secured a $12.4 million seed funding round to advance its core mission of automating housing construction through robotic systems. Prior to his current venture, Ames developed extensive domain expertise as a robotics engineer and software developer working on advanced humanoid and industrial hardware platforms. His technical experience includes programming and operating highly complex robotic systems for NASA, specifically contributing to the Valkyrie, Robonaut 2, and RoboSimian projects. He has also engineered software for prominent commercial robots, including Boston Dynamics' ATLAS, Rethink Robotics' Baxter, and Fetch Robotics platforms. Ames currently focuses on leveraging his deep background in advanced robotic software engineering to modernize the traditional construction industry and scale automated building processes.
