Austin Appel

Austin Appel is the Co-founder and Head of Product at Overview, an artificial intelligence and computer vision company based in San Francisco, California. At the Y Combinator-backed startup, which currently operates with a team of approximately 15 employees, he directs product development and operations to help industrial customers adopt automated inspection systems. Prior to founding Overview, Appel spent four years at Tesla, where he worked extensively in manufacturing and research and development for the electric vehicle manufacturer. He also held a previous engineering role at Tangram and earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University in June 2015. Leveraging more than eight years of direct domain experience, his current professional focus centers on integrating artificial intelligence, hardware, and software solutions to automate quality control within the business-to-business manufacturing sector.
