Andres Morey is the former Co-Founder and Software Engineer of Octopart, and is currently based in New York City. He established the electronic components search engine in 2006 alongside fellow physics dropouts Sam Wurzel and Harish Agarwal, subsequently participating in Y Combinator's Winter 2007 batch. Under his technical leadership, the platform secured a $300,000 angel round in 2008, signed data agreements with major distributors like Mouser Electronics, and scaled to 500,000 monthly unique visitors by 2011. The startup's continued growth in the B2B hardware sector ultimately culminated in an August 2015 acquisition by the publicly traded PCB design software company Altium. Prior to his entrepreneurial career, Morey earned a physics degree from UC Berkeley and contributed to astroparticle physics research before leaving his graduate studies to focus on building data infrastructure for hardware engineers.
