Andres Bran is the Co-founder and Leader at b-12, an enterprise platform focused on chemistry automation and human-machine integration. He previously earned his PhD in artificial intelligence and chemistry from EPFL and completed a research internship at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences. Prior to his current venture, Bran pioneered the development of the first artificial intelligence agent capable of autonomously planning and synthesizing complex molecules within a robotic laboratory environment. His academic research in scientific discovery has accumulated over 1,100 total citations, including more than 750 citations for his primary work published in Nature Machine Intelligence. Additionally, his contributions to the field earned him a Best Paper award at the NeurIPS AI for Science workshop. Bran currently focuses on operationalizing large language models and autonomous agents to bridge computational molecular design with practical laboratory infrastructure.
