Amber Atherton

Amber Atherton is an early-stage venture capital investor at the Patron fund, based in San Francisco, California. Prior to joining the firm in 2023, she founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Zyper, a community software startup that was acquired by Discord in January 2021. Atherton raised seed funding for Zyper from Forerunner Ventures before the acquisition, and she subsequently managed community growth initiatives internally at Discord. Earlier in her entrepreneurial career, she founded the United Kingdom-based e-commerce jewelry company My Flash Trash, earning recognition on the 2016 Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list. In 2023, she authored and published the book The Rise of Virtual Communities, detailing the historical evolution of online consumer networks. Her current investment focus centers on leading seed funding rounds for emerging consumer technology and video gaming startups.
