Alex Rodrigues

Alex Rodrigues is a robotics engineer and the Co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Embark Trucks, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He began building robots at age 11 and later studied mechatronics engineering at the University of Waterloo before dropping out to build his company through Y Combinator. As a Thiel Fellow and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, Rodrigues led Embark Trucks to a public listing via a SPAC merger in November 2021 at a $5.2 billion valuation. This milestone made him one of the youngest chief executives of a publicly traded company before the autonomous trucking firm was acquired by Applied Intuition in May 2023. His professional background and current career focus center on advancing large-scale mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, and autonomous vehicle technology for the commercial freight logistics industry.
