Alen Rubilar-Muñoz

Alen Rubilar-Muñoz is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Velum Labs, an artificial intelligence privacy and data quality startup based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2025, the two-employee company is currently participating in the Y Combinator Winter 2026 batch. Prior to launching Velum Labs, he served as a Principal Software Engineer at Dataroot, where he focused on platform-as-a-service solutions for managed machine learning applications. His academic research experience includes applying deep learning models to protein folding at Vanderbilt University and developing topological neural networks for complex molecule optimization. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics at Minerva University, with an expected graduation date in 2026. Rubilar-Muñoz's technical background combines advanced mathematical research with a current focus on building secure, scalable machine learning infrastructure for enterprise data privacy.
