Alan Chan is the co-founder and CEO of Heptabase, a visual knowledge management platform based in Taipei, Taiwan. Prior to launching the company in 2021, he studied computer science at Minerva University and physics and mathematics at National Taiwan University before voluntarily leaving both institutions to independently research learning systems. Under his leadership, Heptabase participated in the Y Combinator Winter 2022 batch and developed a software-as-a-service product focused on the knowledge lifecycle of collecting, thinking, and creating. The platform has gained recognition within the personal knowledge management sector, including features by industry publications such as Ness Labs, and serves a global user base of researchers, developers, and students. Chan currently focuses on expanding this educational technology platform to improve how individuals process complex information and build deep understanding.
