Aike Hillbrands

Aike Hillbrands is the Co-Founder and VP of Engineering at Kombo, a B2B SaaS startup based in Berlin, Germany. In this role, he oversees the technical architecture and engineering team for a unified API platform that serves over 100 enterprise customers, including Deel. Under his technical leadership, Kombo secured a $17 million Series A funding round led by Index Ventures in 2023 to expand its integration capabilities. Prior to co-founding Kombo, Hillbrands worked as a Software Engineer at the HR software company Personio and studied Computer Science at Technische Universität Berlin. He recently directed the expansion of the company's payroll API across Europe in the first quarter of 2025 and addresses integration challenges at industry events. His current focus remains on scaling API infrastructure and driving engineering innovation within the HR technology and developer tools sectors.
