Valley Interlink
Valley Interlink is a company.
About
Valley Link develops a 42-mile passenger rail service, connecting the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system with San Joaquin County. This infrastructure project offers frequent, zero-emission transit for the congested Interstate 580 corridor. It employs battery-electric vehicles, integrating new stations and facilities to enable seamless intermodal connectivity, significantly enhancing public transport options within the megaregion.
The project originated from a regional insight into critical mobility and congestion relief needs across the California Megaregion. Established as a public initiative, the Valley Link Rail Authority leads its development via 15 collaborating member agencies. This effort directly addresses daily commute challenges for Bay Area workers from San Joaquin County, providing a sustainable and efficient travel solution.
Valley Link serves daily commuters between San Joaquin Valley and the Bay Area, plus local residents. Its vision connects housing with employment, aiming to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions and foster economic growth via job creation. Prioritizing equity for disadvantaged communities, the project aligns with California’s broader goal of an integrated megaregion, promising long-term regional benefits.
