Key people at UVA Seed Fund.
The UVA LVG Seed Fund provides seed-stage investment for ventures emerging from Virginia’s research portfolio. Managed by the UVA Licensing & Ventures Group, it assesses innovative ideas, commercializing UVA intellectual property across sectors like cybersecurity and medical devices. An oversight committee of UVA alumni leaders governs decisions.
Established by Virginia in 2016, the initial LVG Seed Fund accelerated institutional research commercialization. It recognized the need for early-stage capital to bridge innovation and market readiness. The LVG Seed Fund II launched in 2022, responding to increased research and securing sustainable funding for emerging ventures.
The fund supports companies commercializing UVA intellectual property, including ventures by faculty, staff, and students, select alumni-founded entities. Its vision is to cultivate an ecosystem where breakthroughs translate into viable commercial enterprises, maximizing the impact of University innovations.
