Founded in 1907 by Frederick Luther Gamage, a former headmaster of St. Paul’s School, Trinity-Pawling began as The Pawling School. The school initially operated in Dutcher House, a former hotel, before moving to its current campus in 1910 with the construction of Cluett Hall, funded by benefactor George Bywater Cluett. During World War II, the campus was used by the U.S. Army for cryptographic training and as a convalescent center. In 1947, Manhattan’s Trinity School acquired the property, renaming it Trinity-Pawling School. This transition marked a new chapter, blending the traditions of both institutions[1][2].
