Starbase

Starbase serves as SpaceX’s private spaceport in South Texas, centralizing the development, production, and launch of its Starship vehicle. It integrates manufacturing of rocket components, test stands, and orbital launch infrastructure, enabling rapid iteration of super heavy-lift spacecraft for next-generation space transport.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk began land acquisition around 2012, with construction by 2014. His core insight was to establish a dedicated, private site for iterative development, free from external constraints. This fostered an agile approach to designing, building, and testing large reusable rockets.

The facility primarily supports SpaceX’s Starship program for internal deployment and future human missions. Starbase is instrumental in fulfilling the company's vision: reducing spaceflight costs and enabling humanity to become a multi-planetary species.
