Spanish Space Agency

The Spanish Space Agency (AEE) centralizes Spain's national space strategy, coordinating all domestic space activities. It develops national programs for research, development, and testing, consolidating efforts previously dispersed across various governmental departments. The agency enhances space security, fosters innovative applications, and delivers essential space-based services.

Officially established on April 20, 2023, the agency's formation was announced in May 2021. Its creation stemmed from a critical need to unify Spain’s fragmented space sector, where numerous ministries historically operated with overlapping mandates. The AEE emerged as a direct governmental response, streamlining national involvement in space exploration and utilization.

The AEE supports government entities, research institutions, and various industries by providing strategic direction and fostering space technology utilization. Its vision focuses on advising the government on national space policy and programs, actively promoting sustainability.
