OPTrust

OPTrust, formally the OPSEU Pension Trust, is a legal trust managing a large Canadian pension fund and administering the OPSEU Pension Plan, a defined benefit scheme. It strategically invests substantial assets to ensure long-term solvency, meeting all future pension obligations for beneficiaries. This strategy provides secure, predictable retirement income.

Founded in 1994, commencing operations January 1, 1995, OPTrust formed via an agreement between the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and the Government of Ontario. This insight created a shared governance model for pension administration and asset investment, fostering collaborative retirement security.

OPTrust serves over 100,000 members, primarily Ontario Public Service employees and associated agencies. Its vision focuses on diligent fund stewardship to secure members' retirement. Through strategic asset allocation and robust risk management, the organization commits to sustainable delivery of benefits, ensuring long-term participant financial stability.
