Kromek, led by founding CEO Dr. Arnab Basu and co-founder Max Robinson, designs, develops, and manufactures advanced radiation detection technology based on cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) materials. The company provides cutting-edge detection solutions for medical imaging, nuclear security, and security screening, serving customers like the UK government, US Department of Defense, and NASA. Headquartered in Sedgefield, UK, with additional facilities in Pittsburgh, US, Kromek has grown to over 150 colleagues across two continents. Founded in April 2003 as a spin-out from Durham University, it exports products to more than 50 countries globally. Kromek successfully completed an IPO on the London Stock Exchange AIM market in 2013 and later won the Queen's Award for Enterprise in recognition of international trade contributions.
