Koolen Industries

Koolen Industries is a Dutch clean energy conglomerate based in Hengelo, Netherlands, established to accelerate the transition to renewable energy through strategic investments and operational integration across the sector. The group has committed over €130 million in capital, building a portfolio of more than 25 companies that offer full-service clean energy solutions, from generation to application, including solar, batteries, and thermal storage. This extensive network includes companies like Super B, which specializes in advanced battery technology and employs approximately 60 people, and Kraftblock, a thermal energy storage provider that received a €3 million investment in 2020. Koolen Industries also holds a minority interest in Lithium Werks, which employs around 550 individuals. The conglomerate further develops The Green Box, a cleantech campus for innovation. It was founded in 2019 by Kees Koolen, a former Booking.com CEO and early Uber investor.
