KlimUP-Initiative

KlimUP-Initiative is a climate tech startup funding program based in Zurich, Switzerland, providing non-dilutive funding and business support to organizations focused on climate protection and circular economy solutions. The program, initiated by the City of Zurich, has allocated CHF 14 million in total funding until 2028, offering awards ranging from a base contribution of CHF 35,000 up to CHF 250,000 per recipient. It also matches private institutional investment up to an additional CHF 215,000, and has supported 16 startups across two cohorts, selecting the first nine from over 100 applications in early 2024. Key partners include implementation provider Bluelion, while notable portfolio companies supported include Cotierra (formerly Terra Preta) and CellX Biosolutions. The KlimUP-Initiative was launched in January 2024 by the City of Zurich.
