KHAN Technology Transfer Fund I (KHAN-I) is an early-stage life sciences venture fund that invests in innovative drug discovery projects and spin-out companies, primarily from academic sources in Europe, based in Dortmund, Germany. The fund focuses on developing first-in-class therapies for markets with high unmet medical needs in human healthcare, occasionally extending to veterinary care, often partnering with academic innovators. It currently manages €70 million in assets, having secured an initial €60 million commitment in its first closing from investors such as the European Investment Fund (EIF), Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH, and the Max Planck Foundation. KHAN-I's portfolio includes companies like CalTIC, which received up to €3 million for new drug classes, and Cutanos GmbH, in which it led a €1.8 million seed round alongside High-Tech Gründerfonds. The fund also established wings4innovation GmbH to scout projects. KHAN-I was launched in September 2019 by Khanu Management GmbH.
