KGI Venture Capital is the venture capital and private equity arm of KGI Financial Holding Co., Ltd., a publicly traded conglomerate based in Taipei, Taiwan, with a market cap of $9.2 billion. Angelo J.Y. Koo, Chairman and CEO of KGI Financial, leads the entity, which was formally established on December 28, 2001, by the founding Koo Family, with roots in Jeffrey Koo Sr. KGI Venture Capital is one of four major profit platforms within KGI Financial, alongside life insurance, banking, and securities. The parent company expanded its portfolio with the NT$23.09 billion acquisition of Cosmos Bank in 2014, rebranded as KGI Commercial Bank. As a key subsidiary, KGI Venture Capital invests in and manages private equity portfolios, contributing to the group's diversified services.
