Kara Ventures

Kara Ventures is a venture capital side fund based in France that invests in early-stage African startups and provides operational support beyond capital. The fund typically deploys between $25,000 to $100,000 per startup, assisting with go-to-market strategy, hiring, legal operations, and further fundraising. Launched by a collective of French tech angels, Kara Ventures focuses on African markets including Morocco, Tunisia, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, and Uganda, aiming to back AfricaTech companies and gather insights for the wider European VC ecosystem. As of late 2022, it had six African businesses in its portfolio, with a capacity to back 20 startups over its lifespan. The fund published "The Kara Founders Toolkit" in September 2023. Kara Ventures was founded in 2022 by Réna Kakon and Jérémy Goillot.
