Japan Science and Technology Agency

Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) is a Japanese government agency based in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, that implements the country's science and technology policy and builds infrastructure to support knowledge creation and dissemination. The agency funds research across five key areas including green innovation and life innovation, operating platforms like the J-STAGE electronic journal platform and Jxiv preprint server. JST reported an annual revenue of $433.2 million for 2025 and employs approximately 333 individuals, with its 2015 fiscal budget exceeding 12 billion Japanese Yen. Key personnel include President Kazuhito Hashimoto, Executive Director Yasuyuki Tomita, and Osamu Kobayashi, Director of International Affairs. The organization was established in 1996 through the merger of the Japan Information Center of Science and Technology (JICST) and the Research Development Corporation of Japan (JRDC).
