Intelligent Systems Corporation, based in Norcross, Georgia, United States, initially operated as a technology company manufacturing video terminals, portable computers, expansion cards, and peripherals through various subsidiaries. In this early phase, the company expanded its portfolio by acquiring Quadram Corporation for $35 million in stock in 1983 and Peachtree Software for approximately $1 million in 1985. During the 1990s, Intelligent Systems Corporation strategically pivoted its business model to provide venture capital for emerging technology firms. After a restructuring in 1987 as Intelligent Systems Master Limited Partnership, the entity later reverted to Intelligent Systems Corporation, maintaining its focus on tech investments.
