INRA

INRA was a French public research institute operating across France, dedicated to agricultural science, sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, and high-quality food production. It conducted targeted research, developed innovations, and provided expertise to public and private entities, while also training researchers. The institute employed approximately 8,290 staff, including 1,840 researchers and 1,756 research engineers, training over 3,000 students and interns annually. Recognized as a top European and second worldwide institution in agricultural publications, INRA maintained a significant data repository, Portail Data INRA, hosting over 77,000 datasets by early 2019. Operating 17 regional centers, INRA merged with IRSTEA on January 1, 2020, to form INRAE. It was founded in 1946. Its business model centers on publicly funded as a Public Scientific and Technical Research Establishment under the French Ministries of Research and Agriculture.
