IFMR

IFMR, established in 1970, is a not-for-profit society conducting pioneering research in development economics. Its distinguished Board of Governors features prominent individuals such as Chairman R Seshasayee, Nayantara Kothari, and D Sundaram, with S Mahalingam, former CFO of Tata Consultancy Services, also serving on the board. Kapil Viswanathan is President. IFMR focuses on a broad spectrum of areas including finance, financial inclusion, digital payments, infrastructure, governance, agriculture, health, education, labor, entrepreneurship, and SMEs. It provides research-based inputs to industries and government, additionally serving as an umbrella entity and the sponsoring body for Krea University. The organization collaborates with various stakeholders to advance its development economics research across these critical sectors, funded through sponsorships by industrial groups like ICICI and the House of Kotharis.
