The company experienced rapid early growth across major urban markets, generating approximately $100 million in annual revenue by 2014. The firm later reached a valuation exceeding $1 billion in 2016 following a $300 million strategic investment from lead backer Volkswagen. Operating initially under the name GetTaxi, the enterprise expanded its urban mobility ecosystem by acquiring ride-sharing competitor Juno for $200 million during that same year. After subsequently closing its direct New York operations in late 2019, the organization transitioned its North American service strategy by establishing a corporate integration partnership with Lyft to maintain geographic coverage.
