Generator Fund

Generator Fund is a Buffalo, New York-based grantmaking initiative that provides financial support to visual artists, experimental collectives, and independent organizers for public-facing contemporary art projects. The organization distributes $60,000 annually through two primary funding tiers, offering Kinetic Grants of up to $2,000 for new project production and Potential Grants of up to $10,000 for long-term platforms. To date, the program has awarded a total of 40 grants across multiple funding cycles to support exhibitions, performances, and workshops outside of traditional institutional frameworks. The initiative operates as part of the regional regranting network funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and has supported projects by local artists such as D. Sloan and John Opera. Generator Fund was founded in 2023 by the Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art and Executive Director Emily Reynolds.
