Generac Power Systems

Generac Power Systems is a Waukesha, Wisconsin-based manufacturer that designs and produces backup and prime power products, including portable and standby generators for residential, commercial, and critical infrastructure applications. The publicly traded enterprise currently holds an estimated 75% market share in the North American residential standby generator sector, having grown significantly from its initial team of just five employees. After establishing early distribution partnerships with major retailers like Sears, the organization expanded its operations globally through strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of international generator manufacturer Ottomotores. Under the leadership of CEO Aaron Jagdfeld, the firm transitioned from a private entity acquired by private equity firm CCMP Capital in 2006 to a public corporation listed on the NYSE under the ticker GNRC in 2010. Generac Power Systems was originally founded in 1959 by Robert Kern.
