Founded in 2003 by former Brazilian Central Bank President Arminio Fraga, Luiz Henrique Fraga, and Luiz Fernando Figueiredo, Gávea Investimentos is a global alternative asset management firm based in Rio de Janeiro. The firm manages hedge funds and private equity portfolios for institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals across 25 countries, focusing on emerging markets. Operating with approximately 100 employees, the organization currently oversees one and a half billion dollars in assets under management, though historical figures reached over five billion dollars. Executing large-scale investments, the firm closed its third private equity fund with two billion seven hundred million dollars earmarked for illiquid corporate deals. In 2016, JPMorgan Chase completed the sale of its majority equity stake back to the founding partners, returning full operational control to the leadership team after a six-year ownership period.
