Fourth Vital

Based in Oakland, California, Fourth Vital develops a software as a service medical technology platform that utilizes artificial intelligence to provide an early warning system for chronic kidney disease. The diagnostic software aims to identify the condition before it causes irreversible damage, addressing a global health crisis where over 90 percent of the 850 million affected individuals remain undiagnosed until the disease reaches its late stages. The enterprise has secured initial capital through friends and family investment notes alongside grant funding from MITACs Canada in partnership with the London Health Sciences Centre. The underlying artificial intelligence framework draws on academic research conducted under Geoffrey Hinton, as well as the founder's institutional ties to the business program at UC Berkeley. Fourth Vital was officially founded in 2022 by Patañjali Chary alongside medical leadership from Dr. Hershl Berman.
