Fonterra Co-operative Group is an Auckland, New Zealand-based farmer-owned cooperative that collects, manufactures, and distributes a diverse range of dairy products, including milk powders, cheese, and butter. Operating as the largest dairy company in New Zealand and the sixth-largest producer globally, the organization generates approximately $8 billion in total annual sales. The cooperative employs 19,477 people to process milk from its member farmers into ingredients, consumer goods, and foodservice products for international markets. The company distributes its products across major global markets including China, Australia, Malaysia, and Indonesia, operating prominent consumer brands such as Anchor. Fonterra was officially established in 2001 following an 84 percent farmer vote that approved the merger of the New Zealand Dairy Group, Kiwi Co-operative Dairies, and the New Zealand Dairy Board under the leadership of foundation chairman Denis Wilson.
