§ Private Profile · Kansas City, KS, USA
Medical device company developing devices for vascular access in hemodialysis patients, focused on vein dilation for AVF.
Flow Forward Medical is a medical device developer that created the Arteriovenous Fistula Eligibility System to stimulate flow-mediated vein dilation for kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. The proprietary technology is specifically designed to expand initial vein diameter prior to arteriovenous fistula creation, thereby increasing patient eligibility and improving the overall lifespan of vascular access sites. Prior to its eventual acquisition, the enterprise secured venture capital backing, which included the closure of an additional $1.3 million in Series A financing to support ongoing clinical development. The business was acquired by Artio Medical in a stock-for-stock merger that closed in June 2020, with leadership including Chief Technology Officer Paul Muller and Artio Medical President F. Nicholas Franano overseeing the transition toward commercialization. Flow Forward Medical was originally founded in 2011 as a subsidiary of Novita Therapeutics LLC.
