Founded in 2021 by Sreeram Kannan, EigenLayer originated from the insight that new Web3 projects struggle to establish cryptoeconomic security and operator networks. Kannan envisioned aggregating existing Ethereum trust and capital, allowing stakers to secure other protocols. This creates a capital-efficient, secure environment, streamlining Web3 development.
