§ Private Profile · New York City, NY, USA
Defense and intelligence technology manufacturer designing and producing search, detection, and navigation systems for military and commercial markets.
Founded in 1925 by Earl Dodge Osborn, EDO Corporation was a New York City company designing and manufacturing aeronautical instruments, navigation systems, and communications equipment for defense, intelligence, and commercial markets. Prior to its acquisition, the publicly traded company generated 715 million dollars in annual revenue during the year 2006 and maintained a global workforce of approximately 4,000 employees. The manufacturer historically supplied critical aviation components and military subassemblies to major defense customers, including both the US Naval Air Corps and the US Army Air Forces. In 2007, ITT Corporation acquired the business for 1.7 billion dollars, integrating its engineering services and defense product lines into a broader aerospace portfolio. The company's legacy assets were subsequently spun off to Exelis and eventually absorbed into the defense contractor L3Harris Technologies through a series of corporate mergers.
