SpaceTech company developing AI edge computing units for satellite operators, enabling real-time onboard data analysis.
Founded in 2023 by Nick Destrycker and Wouter Benoot, the Ghent startup EDGX develops high performance artificial intelligence edge computing units for satellites. These systems enable real time onboard data analysis to significantly reduce expensive data downloads to Earth for the SpaceTech and satellite industry. The enterprise manufactures the flagship Sterna edge computer and recently secured a 1,100,000 euro multiple unit commercial agreement with a major satellite operator prior to its official launch. To scale operations and expand its workforce from two to sixteen employees, the company raised 2,300,000 euros in seed funding from the imec istart Future Fund and the Flanders Future Tech Fund managed by PMV. Having previously won the ESA Rising Star award, the business plans to conduct an orbital demonstration of its hardware aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in February 2026.
